Prof. Henri-Claude de Bettignies Contributes Article to GRLI’s New Thought Leadership Publication

CEIBS Distinguished Professor of Global Responsible Leadership Henri-Claude de Bettignies has written an article for the inaugural edition of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative's (GRLI) new thought leadership publication, Reflections. In the article, entitled “Developing Responsible Leaders: Who is Responsible?”, Prof. de Bettignies shares his views on why it is necessary to develop a new model for instilling the right values into business leaders and how best to go about it. He says that a paradigm shift is needed in the way corporations are conceived, governed and managed because in today's society trust is a vanishing commodity, and confidence in business has sharply decreased. Today's complex systems and organisations require leaders to have a strong moral compass. He also believes that business schools can play a role in facilitating this development through their research and education programmes.

Prof. de Bettignies teaches MBAs, EMBAs and executives at CEIBS in the areas of ethics and CSR, HR management and corporate transformation, culture and management. He is the founder and former director of the Euro-China Centre for Leadership and Responsibility (ECCLAR) at CEIBS and he directs a number of executive programmes in Europe and in Asia. He is the founder and director of CEDRE (Centre for the Study of Development and Responsibility) and Chairman of the LVMH Asia Scholarships Jury. He is also the Aviva Chair Emeritus Professor of Leadership and Responsibility and Emeritus Professor of Asian Business and Comparative Management at INSEAD. Founded by EFMD and the UN Global Compact, the GRLI is a worldwide partnership of companies, business schools and learning organizations working together to develop the next generation of globally responsible leaders.
