James Warner
Dr. Warner is a seasoned business leader and executive coach with more than thirty years of leadership experience. He has focused much of his career on developing leaders who can successfully lead in an increasingly globalized business environment. During his career, he has helped executive teams identify the organizational culture, governance and structure needed for strategic success, and helped individual leaders build leadership skills to be successful executives.
As a coach, Dr. Warner believes all people have potential that can be unlocked. Using a collaborative approach, he helps executives identify goals and motivation, then guides the creation of a plan to achieve the most important and lasting change in the shortest amount of time. He listens, questions, reflects, and helps clients improve their ability to develop and practice new capabilities. He has coached senior leaders in areas of strategic thinking, conflict management, leading executive teams, aligning the organization and effective communication.
He leverages his PhD in the psychology of human development to conduct executive assessment, coaching and team facilitation. He has worked with country and regional level GMs, Managing Directors and CEOs of Fortune 100 companies and their direct reports in China, Hong Kong, India and Singapore. This is overlaid on strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and degrees in economics and business administration to provide practical, results-based organizational consulting and executive coaching.
Before returning to lead The Warner Consulting Group in 2016 – a company he founded in 1986 - he spent 16 years as an executive with Korn Ferry International, most recently as Senior Partner and Managing Director of Korn Ferry International’s Leadership and Talent Consulting business in Greater China. During his years of business leadership in China, he developed insight into the unique organizational and leadership needs of global companies and leaders operating in China. He is also a Vistage Private Advisory Board Chair working with a group of CEOs in China.
